I have a 68 GTO with a 4 speed and air shocks. When I bought the car it had mis-matched tires and rims on it. The rear has aluminum slots with 295/50 15"s and the front has 225/70 14"s on rally 2 rims. The speedometer speed is all screwed up like this.
I want to remove the air shocks and put regular shocks back on with tires that fit under the wheel wells.
The rubber was bad on the tires so I put 4 225/60 R15's on the goat for the time being. The problem is that the front tires bottom out and scrape all the time.
What 15" tires will fit in the rear with no problems ?
What 15" tire will fit on the front without giving me problems?
Also, what speedo gear do I need to put in the transmission to correct for the tire size change?
I have a couple of rally 2 15" that I can put on the rear for the time being until I can find some good ones, so what size tires? Should I try to find 2 more 14" rims or just go with all 15" rims?
Has anyone got a couple of 14" rims complete for sale?
Thanks for the help and info,
Neil in Tenn
