mine didnt have a brass gear.but i scratched the hell out of the alum. mounting bracket on the flywheel. it sure beats holding up the heavy factory starter, trying to make sure the shims stay on the bolts, and trying to start them at the same time. i was doing this at 4 am with a flashlight. that adds to the fun.
