check the float to make sure it's not full of gas (if it's brass.) It will sink to the bottom. If there's a pin hole in it, you can solder it, or replace it. I would test the sender out of the car and see if it still goes to E when hooked up. You'll have to jumper to a ground from the sender housing. Good luck.
