I put dual 11 inch fans from SPAL on my 462, 244/258 hydr roller, ported 6x-4 headed engine. It´s a high po street car. Low 12´s on my G-tech, at the stoplight..The engine makes more heat than my RA4 400.I noticed that in coming at a stoplight after a long 3000 rpm highway cruise(165 degr), the temp goes up real quick and the fans switch on at 195 and off at 160. I really have to get used to them.I keep looking on my gauge, which goes up and down. Also when switching engine off, temp goes up to above 195 due to coolant not circulating, and when I switch on ignition you hear the fans turning on, so make sure you wire them through the ignition switch that when you start they are off. They will suck some amps. I had to upgrade my alternator. During cool weather it really cools great in traffic, on and off in 55 seconds!. The other day it was a little hotter and the fans were on much longer, but temp stayed at 190. I am not sure about a 100 degree weather traffic jam though, haven´t been in any ....yet. I got the fans because I´m getting a Procharger soon so I needed the space up front. It looks much better in my opinion. However I would not recommend them for a `normal` upgrade though.Too much of a hassle, hi amp alternator, wiring, switches, etc. The mechanical fan keeps your engine at a constant temp, you can forget about it basically. Also no performance increase was recorded on my G-tech. But every engine is different and this is just my experience. Hope this helps.
