I rebuilt mine a number of years back. Since I dont remember the details, it couldnt have been very hard.. I'm not an expert mechanic..
I do recall something about the nut on the front being a strange shape and being a little hard to deal with...But once I had it open I think it was pretty simple. I think I bought the rebuild kit at napa, wasn't costly at all. And it solved my leaks..Hoses cost way more then that.. MIght check those first.. to be sure.
