The biggest difference from the mid 70's and the 60's was that the 71 and newer engines had lowered compression ratio. Also were designed for emissions and gas milage,not performance.

If you have a 2 bbl on your engine going to a 4 bbl will help.

If already 4 bbl,'hopping up' the combo will probably help.
