Your carb carefully rebuilt by a local tech (or yourself, if you're talented) should be as good as new, as long as the core was salvageable.
An Edelbrock carb "remanufactured" by Edelbrock, should be as good as new. I hope. I bought one... Same deal for a Holley carb rebuilt by Holley.
A carb rebuilt by a performance specialist should be better than new.
A carb rebuilt on a production line like you'd buy over-the-counter at any local parts houses, is a disaster waiting to befall you.
