Dude, I have the same problem...in fact I ended up blowing a fuse when I hooked the ground up. What I am thinking is that because the ground wasn't on really good and I took it off and put it on like 5 times in a matter of a few seconds it popped. I was using the same wires you were. When the ground wasn't hooked, I had no power to the clock, but with the ground hooked up the lights in the clock were on with the headlights off.....
I thought I'd be the only one with this problem, so I figured I wouldn't ask and not worry about it.
It sux to be us with the same problem, but thanks for asking for the both of us.
