Personally I would find an A body (GTO,Chevelle,etc..)12 bolt posi,or a Ford nine inch setup to fit,that way you KNOW it can handle what you're going to put through it! Just exactly what I am doing to my '67 GTO at the moment!
Even if you are on the right track,you will get runover if you just sit there!
