The pressure plate I have is a standard V8 piece from the parts store. I figure I'll get an expensive heavy-duty clutch if I ever blow the stocker, but I don't think that'll happen.
If you read the thread, you can see that the different TO bearings are made to compensate for the different pressure plate dimensions. If you had the wrong TO bearing, you'd have MAJOR issues trying to get the linkage connected--the leverage ratios amplify the mismatch.
What you could do is mock up the clutch parts and bellhousing with the parts you have before you put the trans on. You can get a clutch pilot tool for about $5 to keep the plate in line while you check to see where your linkage will end up.
