It's a lot more expensive than the standard pump but you could also consider going with a Flow Kooler water pump. I bought one for my '68 and I'm pretty happy with it. I've never seen my temp gauge above 180 since I installed it. I have a '69-up timing cover so I got the aluminum pump. The '63-'68 pump is cast iron.
