Two ways to do it, the easy, or the hard. The easy is to take it to a reputable shop, the hard is to get a shop manual and do it yourself. If all components are in good condition, you will get adequate adjustments, if you want new car response, you need new components, period. The Saginaw steering in your car is a good unit, and will last for years, but as it wears, the "feel" will go away, and the only way to get that new car handling, is to do a new rebuild of all components. The fact of our hobby, if you want modern feel and handling, you need to upgrade to modern parts. If you want 60's-70's-80's handling, then you will get what you've got. I love the response of newer cars, and if my 66 can handle half that well, I will be happy. But if I want madern handling response, I know I will have to spend some serious cash to get there. Choose your poison.
