Bob Lutz's brain fart in slapping together a boring car catered to the tuner crowd which resulted in pathetic sales will probably send a message to GM that people aren't interested in a GTO. GM in all their brilliance will make a "GTO G7" or something like that with the GTO name being phased out all together. When that happens the G6 wil be their flagship performance vehicle.
