Hi Jen, a few years back my 65 GTO was running 11.20-40. It was all steel except for a fiberglass hood it weighd in at around 3600#.
The engine was a 455 30 over trw pistons, eagle rods, stock crank 10 to 1 elderbrock heads with a slight clean up and a Jim Butler hydralic cam, I think the lift was around 530/ 551.
The car was quite and driven on the street, my suggestion is dont bother with cast iron heads, because more then likely you'll get bite by the go fast bug and want to go faster, and there is only so much you can do with a cast iron head. E-heads are nice or even the kauffman d-port is an excellant choice. hope this helps
