The thing that amazed me about my first Pontiac rebuild was the strange cheap-looking, loose-feeling fuel pump eccentric bolted to the front of the cam gear. I thought "this can't be right" and ordered a new one, only to find it was the same. I think that is clever design when you can make cheap stamped parts work so well.
