You are correct.....and what a mess....
There wasn't a single one left in position or in any kind of decent shape. I wasn't worried about finding that garbage as I was on a rebuild mission anyway.
As far as high lift cam...never heard this run prior to purchase, but I doubt cam was cause. This was a 2bbl, no go smogger, 1975/76 6x head motor. The cam wasn't wiped out, but did show its age. Most everything else is is pretty good shape and required very little work. I doubt this engine ever saw any hi-po stress, just bad gas and trying to cope with the smog/choking aspect of that era. Alot of buildup on the back of the intake valves, I have no doubt proformance was at an all time low during it's former running days.
