It is a good subject. For the most part I think the roller will make more power on the dyno, but the difference may not relate in track performance.
Even with the same duration and lobe separation, with the roller you will be picking up more horsepower AND TORQUE across the entire rpm range. Typically a wider power range than a hyd flat tappet.
Idle quailty? Between the two my bets on the roller. And I'll bet the driveabilty might be even better. Again if we are comparing the same or similar duration.
