I bought the moroso screw kit and put the screws in with the tires/tubes mounted and aired up. I didn't use washers. No issues.
I'm running ET drags and I had an old one sitting around - Before I started I went and looked at the thickness of the bead compared to the length of the screw and the width of the rim material and the screws weren't going to get to the tube.
Still, I was a little nervous on that first one though LOL....
