Welcome, UFO. Try disconnecting the wire from terminal 2 of the regulator and see if the light goes out. If that doesn't do it, disconnect the wire on terminal 3 and see.
If the terminal 2 wire removes the problem, you probably have a shorted diode in the alternator.
If the term 2 wire does not remove the problem, but removing term 3 does, the idiot light relay in the regulator is stuck closed.
That's assuming the system is not miswired.
