You need to use the disc/drum prop valve for one.
You should have about 1/2" of travel from the uppermost stop of the brake pedal to where it rests. To adjust the free play of the pedal rod, there is a locknut holding the pedal clevis tight to the rod. Loosen and adjust.
There is also a rod in the booster that physically pushes the master cylinder. You should be using the one that came from the booster, not the master cylinder.
