69goat1 is on par with my experience. I had a 64 lemans with a 66 GTO 389 that had about 11 to 1 comp and wouldnt run on 93 octane without spark knock. I would buy 15 gallons of 93 then add about 5 gallons of avgas to it to bring my tank up to the 20 gallon full mark. Never had ANY problems whatsoever. Hell with avgas my MPG was better. I ran full tanks of avgas 3 or 4 times during the period I had the car and never had any type of hiccup at all. Now if I had left that spark knock unchecked I am sure I wouldnt have been able to say the same.
And for the record this wasnt a weekend 5 mile trip to Walmart car.....I drove the lemans everyday rain or shine to the tune of about 40,000 miles a year
