I agree on the later model aftermarket boxes for "serious" racing but for a whole lot less coin I feel the richmond would be just fine in this application. Spend the extra money saved by buying the richmond on a good clutch, scattersheild and driveshaft. (Hows your diff ???)
I probably would be running a Jerico here to if they were not $7000 NZD compared with a couple for a Good used Richmond. (Used Jericos seem to go for the ame price as new here LOL)
Get the right clutch and you will be shifting (not banging) gears for along time
