The drain hose is very short (maybe 4" long) and
goes into the side of the timing cover below the
radiator hose/ timing cover water inlet.
Whe HO produced the parts it looks like they made
many passes over the void in the cover so that they had a place for the fitting to mount in the
normally thin area there.
Today with the CNC covers, like the one you have, you would just put a boss there for the drain inlet. HO tried to make their kit so that you did not have to remove the engine from the vehicle to weld a fitting in the pan. I would just run a hose
to a fitting on the pan today because if you build a EFI boosted engine you are going to have the engine out anyway.
