By the way for the uniniated, the LS1 is a 'clean sheet design'. It is not a Chevrolet engine, it is a GM powertrain division engine. The only parts interchangeable with a SBC are the rod bearings. Divisions such as Chevy and Buick,etc... do not build engines any more and haven't for years. All are built by GM's powertrain div.
