I have had this problem with my starter since I can remember. When I first crank the starter, it barely turns, seems like the battery is almost dead. "vwamp voom" then after holding it in start position for a little bit, will start cranking normally. It seems to go slow longer after it has been running and sat, but the battery and solenoid are in the trunk. had the problem before that, so I don't think it's resistance.(using #1 guage wire) It is a 10.5:1 compression engine, could it just be I need a high torque starter? these are also used starters I've been using. Any Ideas? It's a little embarrising to have a mean looking car and it have starting problems in the parking lot (they shut their mouths when I pull away though)
