There are no "free lunches" with torque converters. The 041 cam in the 455 will require at least 2500rpm stall speed, 3000rpm would be better. You will find that the "generic" stuff that will launch your 455 at an acceptable rpm and still be "tight" enough for reliable daily use will be difficult to find. The stall speed ratings by the big companies, TCI, B & M, etc is typically for whimpy small block designs. Did you ever wonder why many of them also note "not for use with big block engines"?
If you are trying to save some money and still get a good converter I would contact Hugh's. They make a pretty good 11" converter that will handle big block torque and not break the bank. They are not as efficient as custom units, like the Continental 10", but about half the price.....Cliff
