I messed around with the Q-jet on my 68 GTO for years. I even had a so called Q-Jet expert look at it. I had bad idle and some real noticeable drivability problems. After screwing around for 15 years, I finally sent it to Cliff Ruggles and he had it for four months and charged me around $200 to heli-coil the inlet and do his thing. The result: a car that I don't even recognize anymore. It idles perfectly and runs well in all driving situations. I don't think that there is any carb in Summit or Jeg's to compete with a Ruggles built Q-Jet regardless of the price.
