If you ever find that you can't start your pontiac don't overlook the possibility that the neutral safety switch is the culprit.
It can mimmic a bad starter and or solenoid or a weak battery.
I just had an experience where I had driven only a few miles and stopped them when I went to restart nothing not even a click from the solenoid.I checked everthing I could think of,cables,connections,grounds,I even tried tapping on the solenoid to no avail.
I ended up getting it towed back to my house.
Then I searched this forum for starting problems and found the information that helped me find the problem.
The car would start if I played with the floor shifter but only in park and not everytime I tried to start her,it would not start in neutral.
My solution was to take out the old switch and bypass it.
