After machine work on the heads and block I am concerned with the stock valve adjustment proceedure of torqueing the rocker arms to 20 ft/lbs. With the stock non adjustable rocker arms the lifter plunger is .160" compressed. The total plunger travbel is .210". The lifters still have .050" spring travel before they bottom. I read the Jim Hand article that said the factory adjustment has the plunger placed mid travel (.100"?) of the lifter. Will the lifters operate properly with .160" preload? This is about two turns past zero lash.
