The motor mount brackets on the 301 will work on the 400. The timing cover will work also, however the timing tab is bolted on the cover for a 301 and in a different position than the 400, which had its timing tab cast into the cover. The pullies from the 301 will work on the 400. You will need the balancer from a 400..the 301 piece can't be used.
After consulting my parts manual, it appears that the alternator and power steering pullies are slightly different.
So, you will need to get brackets for the power steering and alternator. As well, to make life simple, you should get the proper timing cover.
In the for sale section of this forum there are lots of people parting out these cars and you should be able to get these parts pretty cheap.
