"Forget all this canted and hemi, etc. Just design a head with equal port spacing and higher port configuration and do the math on valve size to flow in the 475+ @ 700 range. We already have a 400/425 cfm head.
Then make a 4 bbl cast manifold to boot of course with the Nitrous/EFI bosses included. All other 2-4 set ups can go the sheet metal gimic.
Think outside the box. Your talking High end use for a limited market anyway. There are current heads that will work for 90% of the racers and streeter's now. Look at the Ford and SB-2 thinking."
My opinion if you are starting with a clean sheet of paper with Kaufmann capabilities.
Make the head like a SB2 as far as the port
layout.
Make the exhaust port flange vertical so that you
can use the head for a variety of chassis and then
build headers correctly. Should have a raised exhaust port design and minimum of a 2.3 intake and a 1.9 exhaust valve.
Make the Intake port location like the SB2 or Ford head with a Dart Big Chief style intake port.
Use a 2.3 intake valve minimum.
My friend "Gordy" did just this same dead over 10
years ago and got a 450 intake head and 70% exhaust port (but the head was solid)He used a IV chamber which I would not use today and 2.19/ 1.77
valves.
He did the head on a cnc machine.
No reason why Kaufmann with their equipment can't
build a 450-470 head for a large pontiac.
