I got my engine apart today and really found nothing that would cause a knock, tap... Except for the left side motor mount was loose at the block. I wonder if it caused a vibration or rattling that I was hearing.

Anyway, here is what the cylinders look like...

Here is a typical rod bearing, they all looked like there was some dirt in there and scratched them..



Here is the thrust bearing..



And finally the crank.. I do feel ever so slight scratches with my fingernail, maybe just a polishing?




Now that it is apart, I will still have the forged rods installed and the rotating assembly balanced. Can I get away with the same rings or install new ones? I think I already asked that question in a previous post, just want to be sure.

Also, since the block is realy in good shape, at least I think it is based on what I see. Can I pressure wash it using soap and water? Then blow it out with compressed air? I just want to be sure there are no foreign particles in it when I reassemble?
