Was your crank an N nodular? I have a non N nodular 400 crank and it weighs 4 lbs less than a N nodular 400 crank. The scale I used might be off, but since the 455 N crank is loose I can just get it weighed somewhere else. There is a way to get to the bottom of this whole thing since some info is being with held. Eagle advertises their cranks as being made out cast steel, Cat says theirs are nodular iron so they should have different weights.
