Thanks for the tips, tininjun. At least I have a clear direction to start off on. The Holley ECM comes with the 4-wire plug to go straight into the connector on the large style HEI distributors, so as long as I can figure out how to wire the guts, I should be in good shape.
Anyone else done anything similar?
Oh, my other question related to this system: how am I supposed to plumb a return line into the gas tank? Is there a sheetmetal fitting of some sort with just a regular 3/8" hose connector? I can't even find a new or repro tank for 1st gens that has a return line option.
