I agree there should not be any metal shavings in the carb. You are paying top dollar that thing should perform out of the box. Holley is not flawless i just took one of there new carbs apart Friday & it was full of silver particles from that nice silver finish they put on the carb. What i suggest is just like the oil pumps take it apart & check the float settings & everything before you run it. That is what i do.
