the problem you'll run into with the headers and the 3" is getting the pipe bent around the transfer case. i did this in a blazer some years ago and ran 2 1/2" with no regrets. i ran a set of factory ho manifolds instead of tube headers tho.
i think a set of a-body headers will work in the application but i won't say for sure.[ it's been 6 or 7 yrs since i did this] mike
