Actually edelbrock seems to have brought out the the AVS in defiance of history. Carter had several aftermarket high performance AVS carbs available in the early '70's. No where near the performance of the AFB and Carter couldn't give the things away. Of course, they had the TQ going by then and it did a MUCH better job than either the AVS or even the AFB. The TQ is spread-bore based, like the Q-Jet and available up to 1000 CFM.
