I have set-up several T/A's with the old Nash (now Richmond) 5 speeds. All were street versions & had standard 3.27 1st gear ratio, then one hell of a gear drop to 2.13 second gear. Behind mid 400 horse 455's & 428's, we didn't need that kind of gear multiplication even with 2.93 8.5 gears. Real similiar situation to my Cummins pickup, so much torque down low, you have to start out in second. With the street version & 2.13 second, you're basically starting out in 2nd with less gear multiplication than close ratio Muncie.... Just didn't work in our applications. Would like to see a race version with say 2.78 1st & equally spaced gears from there till 1-1 fifth.
