Larry, Being a "Dumb A$$" would involve running
the engine and wondering why you had no oil pressure. (Chebby guy drove around one time with
an LS-6 engine for a while until he burned out every rod and main after he did not put one in his engine). Have NEVER forgotten to put the oil
pump drive in BUT only because have seen it done several times by others. As you can see you were
not alone on the board in this mistake.
Agree only possible issues would be dropping it in
the pan on installation and having the same thing happen on distributor removal in the car. Tom V.
