I had a 400 with a center force dual friction clutch. I switched blocks and went to a 455. The center force clutch did not handle the torque. The disc cracked in three places and the facing was gone. I found out that 455 had 11 inch clutches. When I talked to center force they said I could not buy just a clutch disc, but had to buy pressure plate and disc, that they were matched. This gets expensive. I talked to a clutch manufacturer in Indiana and he told me a dual friction clutch is not for the street. They are not meant for street driving. They are meant to be engaged fully with no slipping. The clutch also tore up my flywheel. I now have 11 flywheel and clutch, is holding up fine. Moral of story is; make sure clutch fits your application and that you can buy just the clutch disc without needing a match pressure plate are per Centerforce.
