Yes, the engine will be fine. It just won't have the ability to rev up like it would with fresh valve springs, but it will no problem get you around fine.
Later on you can install new valve springs and a better matched converter for more spirited performance. Lower rear end gears than 2.78s will match the cam better performance-wise, but it will run pretty good with the 2.78s especially on the open road.
I would highly recommend advancing the cam 4 degrees, the 'good' timing chain sets (you are of course replacing the timing chain set) have at least 3 keyways that allow the 4 degree advance depending on how you install it.
