Well, I have a brand new in the box Melling M-54D-S oil pump that I will be using instead of putting the old one back in.
I cannot detect anything wrong with the cam bearings. They look like new with no indications that any grit ever made it that far.
I was hoping not to have to take the block in as it only has 300 miles on it since the original build.
Can I use a glaze breaker, the abrasive balls on the ends of wire spokes to restore the cross hatch? Then use new rings...
If not, then I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and take the block in.
