Just to be absolutely clear:
The clunking you hear is in response to the transition of taking the engine from no load to load? Does it do this with the car still, or does the car have to be moving?
Do you get any clunking noises by simply bouncing the suspension up and down forcefully with the car standing still?
If you set the adjustment of the fender, does it change or pop out of place when you a) bounce the suspension forcefully with the car standing still, or b) rev the engine against the torque converter or clutch with the car standing still???
Just thinking alound here, sounds like a tricky one.....
