Jim, I haven't peered over into the carb yet. Check the fuel pump operation is as far as I've gotten. I'm thinking right now that I'm going to check the valve lash again when I get another shot at working on it to see how that is. Larry's past problem really sounds like what I'm experiencing. I'm not ruling out anything, but I don't think I left anything in the valley. It would make a good second chapter for my book though .

Guys, thanks for all your insights and suggestions. Keep'em coming, this has really got me scratching my head. I'm not that great a mechanic, but I would have expected at least one cylinder to fire at least once. I've taken it apart down to the cam a few times before and followed the same procedures I've described in putting it back together and its always lit right up. Maybe my blind beginners luck has just run out! Sounds like another chapter in "Pontiacs for Dummies"
