you guys are working too hard. I keep my used lacquer thinner in the 5 gal cans it comes in. most of the junk and pigment settle to the bottom. put the console cover in a pan, pour the old lacquer thinner over it and ignore it overnight. all the layers separate and the adhesive melts off. wipe it down and you're ready to go. be sure to blast/paint the metal piece if it's corroded from having 30+ years of beer and softdrinks seep in under the woodgrain. or else you get those nasty bubbles under your new vinyl.
