Except for exhaust larger Pontiacs are nearly a bolt in. The intake is very different 301's are short deck engines. You can also install 400's and 455's, the accessories will bolt up such as power steering, AC, and alternator to any of them unless you have pre 70 heads. Even the motor mounts will work, trans bolts up, but the exhaust manifolds are different. I think the head pipes bolt on in the same location as log manifolds, or you can get headers.
I have put 400/455's in a few 301 cars and I have been looking for a 301 powered Regal/Cutlass/Gran Prix to drop a larger engine into. I am not a fan of the 301 engine, but they arent junk, just not a performance engine.
