Im prefer to sand the imperfections out w/ 220 paper/discs.

The primer should be a "flexible" type or have the flex agent that you add.
Most of the current premium urethane paints do not require the flex agent.
The clear-coat system you use does need the flex agent.

You may want to post this in the body work section. It'll probably get more appropriate responses.
