Maybe I need to put a short tail TH400 in my '66 GTO. How can I tell the difference between a short or long shaft when rumaging around the salvage yard? Please be specific as I am new to this. Are there any other differences in the TH400's?
Thanks

Not sure of the exact dimensions but the short shaft only has a short/stubby housing of a few inches. Say 4 -6. The long shaft shaft has a tail shaft housing of almost 12". They are very easy to tell apart even if you have never seen one before.
Honest dad, that 455 on the side of the block is a serial number
