I had the same problem when I first got my car. When that temp gauge hit 200 or better you could bet the house she wouldn't start until it dropped below that.
My "former" mechanic couldn't believe his rebuilt starters wouldn't kick it over but after FIVE I had enough and bought a Powermaster high torque mini starter. Beautiful unit, almost too pretty to put in, but I did. Anyway the problem stopped immediately. You could hear the difference in the way the engine turned over. Before it dragged, like the starter was pulling it. With the new one it was almost instantaneous, like it was shot out of a rocket or poked with a cattle prod [img]smile.gif[/img]
As others have pointed out a lot of things could cause this but in my case there was no doubt. It was money well spent. It's embarassing not to be able to start your car especially when 3 or 4 admirers are standing by. I would have paid anything to fix it.
