You should be able to remove it from the engine side. The fan motor bolts to the housing with a round plate on the front (engine side) of the blower housing. The book says to unbolt it, pull it out, and separate the motor from the impeller before removing both separately. There seems to be a lack of clearance around the inner fender and hood hinge to do it otherwise.
